Back to school: learning, rehearsing, discovering

As a new academic year begins, the Santa Cecília Piano Festival also returns to meeting rooms, classrooms and teachers’ studios for another year of activities.

Because before the stage, there is study and preparation. Before the concerts, there are rehearsals and consolidation. Since we value and find pleasure in the process, we begin this new cycle with a masterclass by Alexandre Moutouzkine.

An internationally acclaimed pianist, Moutouzkine has performed as a soloist with more than 60 orchestras across three continents, including the Cleveland Orchestra, the Berliner Philharmoniker, and the Moscow and Kyiv Philharmonic Orchestras. Professor and Co-Coordinator of the Piano Department at the Manhattan School of Music, he is a regular mentor to young pianists.

His experience as a performer and pedagogue reminds us that learning is, in itself, an essential part of the musical experience — a journey shaped by discipline and consistency, but also by curiosity and discovery.

And it is along this path that the Santa Cecília Festival intends to continue.

A new chapter begins in 2027

Following another edition marked by the meeting of young pianists from different countries and strong audience engagement, Santa Cecília is already preparing for its next chapter.
